Fareed Simpson-Hankins first picked up the trumpet at eight years old. Born in Philadelphia and a graduate of Central High School, he grew up learning in the Philadelphia School District and studied music at the Tony Williams Mount Airy Cultural Center jazz program. Mentored by Byard Lancaster, he would play at local venues at a young age with the Developing Excellence organization. He acquired a love for music when he was a child, and his parents would practice and bring him to restaurants where they would perform. He began studying the trumpet with Kathy Kilpatrick, and later studied with Mike Franchetti. He also learned from playing in the church he grew up in, Shiloh Temple, where he played spirituals and gospel music. While attending Temple University, Fareed had the opportunity to study with some of the finest trumpet players in jazz, including Terell Stafford, Tanya Darby and Nick Marchione. He plays lead trumpet in the universities big band. Recently, he has been seen on PBS and heard on WRTI 90.1. He’s performed at local Philadelphia venues, The 2017 Jazz is Back festival in Grožnjan, Croatia, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and at the 2016 North Sea Jazz Festival, in Rotterdam.

Hornist Martina Smith is in her senior year at Temple University’s Boyer College of Music and Dance, where she is a student of Jeffrey Lang, associate principal horn of the Philadelphia Orchestra. While at Temple, she has been a member of the Temple University Symphony Orchestra, the Temple University Wind Symphony, and her own brass and woodwind quintets. She has played in master classes with David Cooper, Abel Pereira, Jennifer Montone, Eric Reed, Gus Sebring, Shelley Showers, and other professional horn players. This past year she played with the Symphony in C, a professional development orchestra. In high school she toured Italy as principal horn of the Philadelphia All-City Orchestra. She was also section leader in Philadelphia Sinfonia. Martina has attended many different summer music festivals, including the Curtis Summerfest, Philadelphia International Music Festival, Boston University Tanglewood Institute’s Horn Workshop, Imani Woodwind Quintet Music Festival, and the Atlantic Brass Quintet Seminar.

Kynoebi Simpson-Hankins is an 18-year-old Central High School Graduate. He was born and raised in the East Oak Lane of Philadelphia, and began playing the flute in 3rd grade and stuck with it ever since, while also picking up the saxophone in the 10th grade. He studies classical, jazz, and r&b music, and will be attending Temple University to continue his studies both academically and musically.

Returning this fall from Philadelphia as a junior in vocal studies at The Eastman School of Music, Danielle Romano presently studies with Professor Anthony Dean Griffey. Danielle has participated in Eastman’s 2017 fall opera production of L'incoronazione di Poppea. This upcoming winter Danielle will also be involved with Eastman’s production of Orfeo ed Euridice. In addition to performing, Danielle has worked backstage in costumes for two of Eastman’s productions, and plans to continue in the fall. Danielle has previously been seen in Girard Academic Music Program’s musical productions, where she played Maria in West Side Story, Pinocchio in Shrek The Musical, and Yente and Fruma Sarah in Fiddler on the Roof. Danielle will always remember the way her High School experiences and teachers helped to develop her love for life as a performing artist. Danielle continues to play both the piano and viola in her free time. She looks forward to her continued studies at Eastman, and would like to recognize supporters including the Florencia M. Mack Scholarship Award, GAMP Home and School Music Scholarship, and the Milicia Award for their continued contributions to her music education. Danielle would also like to thank her parents for their continuous love and support.

Vilme Joselin, is a 3rd year undergrad music performance student at Temple University. Both of his parents are immigrants from Haiti while he and his siblings were all born here in the states. His instrumental concentration is the Violin, and he has been playing it since the 8th grade. By the time he attended his second musical festival in the 10th grade (Kinhaven Music Camp) he knew it was set in stone that music was going to be his long life career. Making his way from the small stages in High school to performing at the Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall, he knows that his mission is on the right path and God willing with many more open doors down the way.

At first, Tracy Nguyen considered a career in the veterinary field majoring in chemistry at Ursinus College before deciding to embark on her true passion for music. After taking a gap year she transferred to Temple University and is currently completing her bachelor's degree at Temple University's Boyer College of Music and Dance double majoring in music theory and bassoon performance. She grew up in the neighborhood of Olney and started in the Philadelphia School District playing clarinet in third grade before committing to bassoon in her junior year of high school.
She currently studies with Michelle Rosen, principal bassoonist of the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, and formerly with Shirley Curtiss, well-known bassoon pedagogue and former director of the woodwinds program at Settlement Music School. She has performed in Boyer College's Concert Orchestra, Symphonic Band, Early Music Ensemble on recorder and dulcian, and a number of small woodwind chamber ensembles so far. She previously toured with All-City Philadelphia's Italy tour as an alumnus, participated in Philadelphia Sinfonia's 2015-16 season. and volunteered and performed in Symphony for a Broken Orchestra.
After graduating, Tracy plans to pursue a Master's degree to further her studies in bassoon while expanding her performance experience, with interest in teaching and exploring music theory studies. She is a graduate of Masterman High School.

Shannon Lanier is a sophomore at Temple University, where she majors in violin performance. She is a native of Philadelphia and takes any opportunity she can to attend the city's beloved Philadelphia Orchestra concerts at the Kimmel Center. Aside from violin, Shannon loves to try new places to eat around the city. Shannon is also a graduate of The Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush School.

Hello, my name is Kailey Labovitz and I am a Junior at Boyer College of Music and Dance at Temple University. I am a Music Education and Vocal Performance major who loves to sing, dance, and spend time with my friends and family. I have an affinity for musical theater as well as classical music and I use the example of these types of professional musicians to strive to be the best musician I can be. I am also a huge Philadelphia sports fan and I love to watch horror movies. She is a graduate of Abington High School

Danelys Giselle Pereira is a 2018 graduate of the Girard Academic Music Program. In high school, she was a participant of a few ensembles such as choir, orchestra, and jazz band. She is currently a freshman at the Esther Boyer College of Music at Temple University and is majoring in both music education and double bass performance. After college, she plans on teaching young musicians and performing. She also plans on furthering her education in music towards her Masters and PhD.

“Passionately strive for my goals.” - This is Agnes Williams’ guiding principle for her life. Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA., she has made it a point to strive for her goals, which are to become a music professor, tour with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, play at Carnegie Hall and teach music lessons to kids in Africa.
Her education accomplishments include:
Agnes is making strides in seeing her goals become reality. She is a 2018 graduate of Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts where she was active in the music department and graduated with honors. She excelled at playing the trombone. Highlights of her music
Participated with the Philadelphia All City Fellowship and the Philadelphia Orchestra Performed at the famed Lincoln Center in New York City with the All City Jazz Orchestra. Section leader for the Philadelphia Young Musicians Orchestra

Additionally, Agnes is a Youth Advisory Council member for Project 440, which aids the community through music awareness.
For the last two summers, Agnes taught music through “Work Ready Philadelphia” as a teacher and performer, teaching kids in South East Philadelphia how to play the trombone and learn music from different cultures.
When she is not in school or working, Agnes enjoys volunteering at her church, spending time with her family and everything related to technology and gaming.
Agnes will be a freshman this Fall (2018) at Temple University Boyer School of Music.
